U.S. Chamber Foundation announces JDX Pilot Projects, members of the Pilot Partner teams, and JDX Advisory Committee members
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation today announced the next steps in developing the Job Data Exchange (JDX), a set of open data tools and resources that will improve the speed and clarity of employer signaling to education, training, and credentialing partners, which in turn will help learners and workers better understand what jobs are available and what skills are required to fill them. Central to the pilot will be the development and field testing of an expanded data standard, or schema, for job descriptions and postings.
“The JDX is a technological leap forward when it comes to communicating what’s inside a job description and posting,” said Cheryl Oldham, senior vice president of the U.S. Chamber Foundation’s Center for Education and Workforce. “The pilot is an important opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate and carefully design this tool that will be transformative in helping employers, educators, and job seekers navigate education and workforce pathways across the country.”

Beginning this month, seven pilot partner teams across six states and the District of Columbia will participate in co-designing and pilot-testing the JDX tools and resources. These pilot partner teams are comprised of education and training providers, employers, HR professionals, and HR technology vendors representing the industries of healthcare, defense, utilities, energy, and manufacturing.

In addition, the Chamber Foundation has selected a diverse group of professionals to serve as an advisory committee for the JDX, representing organizations such as the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA), as well as federal agencies including the U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Department of Labor, and state stakeholders represented through groups like the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA). This committee of experts will provide recommendations and feedback on the design, data integration, pilot, evaluation, adoption, and future use of the JDX.

The Job Data Exchange initiative began in January 2018, created from an idea that through clearer employer signaling, the talent marketplace can better connect the skills and qualifications people have with the jobs that are available, more quickly and accurately. Completion of the JDX Pilot Project is expected by December 2019.
