Amid the backdrop of global health, economic, and social challenges, finalists exemplify how businesses are addressing the world’s biggest problems
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation today named the finalists for its 2020 Citizens Awards – 24 companies that have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in solving the world’s biggest challenges and helping our communities grow stronger amid a global pandemic, economic downturn, and movement for racial equity. From advancing youth employment, to setting ambitious sustainability goals, to combating hunger in communities hit hard by the pandemic, the finalists show how business-led solutions are expanding opportunity and driving progress in every aspect of society.
“While 2020 has brought unprecedented hardship to communities around the world, it also showed there is no challenge too great when business steps up,” said Marc DeCourcey, senior vice president of the U.S. Chamber Foundation. “Through the Citizens Awards, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on businesses that are not only rising to the challenge in a moment of great hardship, but bringing hope, strength and resilience to move our communities forward – in times of crisis and every day.”
For the first time this year, Citizens Award winners will be announced during a special virtual awards program taking place in conjunction with the 2020 Corporate Citizenship Conference: Business Solves on November 17-19.
This year’s program will also feature the “Corporate Citizenship Hall of Fame,” honoring past winners for their sustained social and environmental impact, and significant contributions to advancing the field of corporate social responsibility.
The 2020 Citizens Awards will be presented in eight categories, reflecting the far-reaching impact of business in areas ranging from education to sustainability to disaster response. This year’s finalists are:
