Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Awards will honor the best in corporate citizenship, introducing the Corporate Citizenship Hall of Fame
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation today named the finalists for its 2019 Citizens Awards. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the annual awards program, which recognizes the most innovative and impactful corporate citizenship initiatives raising the bar on social responsibility and spearheading the transformation to a strong, healthy and sustainable future. Winners will be announced on November 14 at the Citizens Awards Gala in Washington, D.C.
“As more companies put corporate citizenship at the center of their business strategies, the Citizens Awards serve as a powerful reminder of how businesses have and continue to lead the charge in solving today’s greatest challenges through innovation, expertise and collaboration,” said Marc DeCourcey, senior vice president of the U.S. Chamber Foundation. “This year’s finalists exemplify the role businesses play every day in making the world a better place and we are proud to shine a spotlight on their positive contributions to society.”
For the 20th anniversary, this year’s ceremony will also feature the “Corporate Citizenship Hall of Fame,” honoring past winners for their continued social and environmental impact, and extraordinary contributions to advancing the field of corporate social responsibility.
The 2019 Citizens Awards will be presented in eight categories for which finalists are listed below:
- Best Corporate Steward – Large BusinessFinalists: Aflac, Salesforce, Stanley Black & Decker, and U.S. Bank
- Best Corporate Steward – Small and Middle-Market BusinessFinalists: Berkshire Bank, Propeller, and SignUpGenius, Inc.
- Best Commitment to Education ProgramFinalists: Mastercard, SAP SE, and Tata Consultancy Services
- Best Community Improvement ProgramFinalists: AbbVie, Inc., Belden Incorporated, Citigroup Inc., and The Kroger Company
- Best Disaster Response and Community Resilience ProgramFinalists: FedEx Corporation, Johnson Controls, and SpotOnResponse LLC
- Best Economic Empowerment ProgramFinalists: Barclays, Clark Construction Group, LLC, Kellogg Company, and Sachse Construction
- Best Environmental Stewardship ProgramFinalists: Enterprise Holdings, Smithfield Foods, and Wells Fargo
- Best Health and Wellness ProgramFinalists: Gilead Sciences, Inc., Lyft, and Merck & Co., Inc.
