Lu Johns-De La Garza is a policy and programs intern at the U.S Chamber of Commerce Foundation, supporting the education and workforce portfolio. As a rising junior at Vanderbilt University, she is pursuing a double major in Human & Organizational Development with a focus on education policy, and Political Science with a concentration in American Government & Politics.
Lu's passion for education and civic engagement drives her work in advancing solutions for early childhood and K-12 education. Her diverse experiences include serving as Communications Director for a Nashville mayoral campaign, contributing to local education initiatives in her home state of Texas, acting as a Junior Counselor at the American Legion Auxiliary Texas Blue Bonnet Girls State, and involvement with Vanderbilt Women in Government.
As a proud Texan and Latina, Lu brings a unique perspective to her work. She believes in the transformative power of equitable education as a cornerstone for addressing societal challenges and changing lives.
