  • Executive Director, Civics

Caitlin Thomas is executive director of civics at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, where she works closely with organizational leadership and staff to fortify external relationships and pioneer innovative partnership opportunities for The Civic Trust™.

A native of coastal New England, Caitlin has more than a decade of service in the nonprofit development field. She began her career at a maritime history museum, where she honed her skills at fostering meaningful partnerships with individual and corporate supporters and managing special events.  Prior to joining the Foundation, she worked for Aloha United Way in Honolulu, uniting the support of both local businesses and national corporations to bolster the missions of 300 of Hawaii’s most impactful nonprofit organizations.

Within the Foundation, Caitlin engineered and implemented the partnership strategy for the National Civics Bee®, an annual competition launched in 2021 to educate young people about civics and encourage them to contribute to their communities. After achieving swift growth of the National Civics Bee® from five to 28 states in under two years, her current focus is driving the expansion of the competition to all 50 states by “America’s 250th birthday” in 2026.

Caitlin graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University with a degree in cultural anthropology. She lives on the island of Maui with her husband, a United States Marine Corps Veteran, and their daughter.
