Discouraging statistics emanating from the COVID-19 pandemic are so numerous in so many sectors that it can be difficult for any one of them to be attention-grabbing at this point.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, in partnership with the AmerisourceBergen Foundation and iHeartMedia, today launched Sharing Solutions: A Virtual Nationwide Tour to drive business-led solutions to the opioid epidemic as more than 40 states report increases in opioid-related mortality amid COVID-19. As part of the campaign, the Foundation and its partners will convene 50 virtual events in 50 states to showcase innovative workforce solutions and support employers as they tackle growing substance misuse in their communities and in the post-COVID workplace.
Major cities across the country, including all state capitals, are on a heightened sense of alarm as the FBI has received information pointing towards “armed protests” between January 16 – 20, 2021. This intelligence is being taken very seriously given the recent events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. What do these threats mean for local businesses and what can you do in advance to prepare? Here are some actions your business can take to make sure you are prepared for disruptions that may take place over the coming days and beyond.
The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged every aspect of our daily lives and countless individuals and families around the world have—and continue to—suffer because of it. On January 18, we will honor the Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service, remembering those who fight for equality and dedicate themselves to making the world a better place. Given the events of 2020 through today, the National Day of Service reminds us that it’s more important than ever to give back and lift up our communities.
Nine months ago, with very little notice, the coronavirus pandemic threatened to upend global supply chains, testing the capabilities of shipping companies like UPS as they shouldered enormous package volume rarely seen outside of the peak holiday shopping season. Meanwhile, we prepared our network to continue supporting the urgent work of medical professionals as they combat this deadline virus.
